Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to understand how humans perceive their existence amid the dominance of information technology in the digital era. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach using in-depth interviews and observations with five informants, including a philosophy lecturer, IT practitioner, digital literacy activist, philosophy student, and social psychologist. The findings reveal that information technology has created a new form of existence, where human presence is defined not only physically but also digitally. The dominance of technology reshapes thinking patterns, social behavior, and human values, leading to a modern crisis of humanity. Nevertheless, humans retain reflective capacity to redefine their relationship with technology. Critical awareness, digital ethics, and balance between the real and virtual worlds are essential to preserve existential values so that technology remains a tool rather than the ruler of human life.
