REVIEWER GUIDE

Reviewer Guide - JPSTM

  1. Introduction Thank you for your willingness to serve as a Reviewer (Mitra Bestari) for the Jurnal Pemberdayaan Sosial dan Teknologi Masyarakat (JPSTM). Your role is crucial in maintaining the quality, scientific validity, and integrity of published community service (PkM) articles. JPSTM utilizes a Double-Blind Peer Review system (where the identities of both the author and the reviewer are concealed from each other) to ensure objectivity in evaluation.
  2. Reviewer Ethics As a JPSTM reviewer, you are expected to adhere to the standards of scientific publication ethics based on international guidelines (COPE):
  • Confidentiality: All assigned manuscripts are strictly confidential documents. Manuscripts must not be shared, discussed, or used for personal gain without written permission from the Editorial Board.
  • Objectivity: Evaluations must be conducted objectively, constructively, and professionally. Personal criticism or derogatory remarks toward the authors are not permitted.
  • Conflict of Interest: If you feel you have a conflict of interest (such as a collaborative relationship, same institution, or financial/personal interests) regarding the assigned manuscript, please immediately decline the review invitation.
  • Timeliness: Please complete the review process and submit your decisions/notes promptly according to the agreed-upon deadline (typically 2–3 weeks).
  1. Evaluation Criteria Manuscripts in JPSTM focus on PkM activities (application of science and technology, community empowerment, education, social humanities, and health). Reviewer evaluations cover the following aspects:
  • Title and Abstract: Does the title reflect the substance of the PkM activities? Does the abstract clearly summarize the problem, implementation methods, results, and impacts?
  • Introduction & Situation Analysis: Are the problems of the partner/community clearly outlined based on field data/facts? Is there an adequate literature foundation?
  • Methods: Are the problem-solving methods (e.g., training, counseling, application of appropriate technology, mentoring) explained systematically so that they can be replicated?
  • Results & Discussion: Are the activity outcomes and the impacts of change/empowerment on the community sharply analyzed? Are they supported by adequate visual data (activity photos, charts, tables)?
  • Conclusion: Do the conclusions address the objectives of the PkM activities and provide recommendations for program sustainability?
  • References: Are the citations up-to-date (minimum 70–80% references from the last 5 years) and prioritized from primary sources (journals/proceedings)? Is a reference management tool (such as Mendeley) utilized?
