Abstract

Abstract: The palm oil industry depends on effective coordination between plantation and palm oil mill operations to ensure the continuity and efficiency of production processes. Against this background, this study examined the effect of Communication Effectiveness on Operational Fluency at PT Perkebunan Nusantara IV Regional II Unit Mayang, Indonesia. The study adopted a quantitative approach with an explanatory research design. The research population comprised 379 permanent employees, from which a sample of 195 respondents was selected using the Simple Random Sampling technique based on the Slovin formula. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire and analysed using simple linear regression. The results demonstrate that Communication Effectiveness has a positive effect on Operational Fluency, as evidenced by a regression coefficient of B = 1.000, a significance value of p = 0.000, and a coefficient of determination of R² = 1.000, thereby supporting the proposed research hypothesis. These findings indicate that effective communication contributes to smoother operational processes by facilitating clear information exchange, strengthening cross-functional coordination, and enhancing activity synchronisation between plantation and palm oil mill units. This study provides empirical evidence of the importance of communication effectiveness in supporting operational fluency within the Indonesian palm oil industry and offers practical guidance for strengthening cross-functional communication mechanisms to improve operational coordination.
