Abstract

Abstract: This research analyzes the income disparity between men and women and identifies key factors determining wages in Indonesia. A quantitative approach is employed, utilizing secondary data from the 2015 wave of the IFLS. Income level is identified as the dependent variable, influenced by job-related aspects—such as employment duration—and individual characteristics, including gender, age, education, marital status, and the number of children.

The test results reveal that gender plays a significant role in determining salary levels, with men earning more than their female counterparts. A positive correlation was observed regarding work time allocation, marital status, and the presence of children, whereas age and years of education played a negative role. It should be noted that while these factors collectively influence wages, the model lacks strong predictive power, as it captures only a small fraction of the underlying dynamics. This indicates that gender-based wage inequality in Indonesia stems from structural factors within the workforce.
