PENGARUH INTENSITAS PENGGUNAAN TIKTOK DAN PERAN ORANG TUA TERHADAP MOTIVASI BELAJAR SISWA KELAS X DI SMA NEGERI 10 MEDAN

Abstract

Abstract: This study aimed to determine the influence of TikTok usage intensity and parental roles on the learning motivation of tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 10 Medan. This research employed a quantitative approach with an ex-post facto design. The population consisted of 154 tenth-grade students, and the sample was selected using simple random sampling. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and Likert-scale questionnaires, while data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression. The results showed the regression equation Y = 9.293 – 0.212X₁ + 0.942X₂. Partially, TikTok usage intensity had a negative and significant effect on learning motivation (tcount = -2.996; sig. = 0.003 < 0.05), while parental roles had a positive and significant effect on learning motivation (tcount = 16.312; sig. = 0.000 < 0.05). Simultaneously, TikTok usage intensity and parental roles significantly affected students’ learning motivation (Fcount = 137.787; sig. = 0.000 < 0.05). The coefficient of determination indicated that both variables contributed 64.1% to students’ learning motivation, while the remaining 35.9% was influenced by other factors not examined in this study. Therefore, it can be concluded that TikTok usage intensity and parental roles have a significant influence on the learning motivation of tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 10 Medan.

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh intensitas penggunaan TikTok dan peran orang tua terhadap motivasi belajar siswa kelas X di SMA Negeri 10 Medan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian ex-post facto. Populasi penelitian berjumlah 154 siswa kelas X, dengan sampel yang diambil menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, dokumentasi, dan angket skala Likert, sedangkan analisis data menggunakan regresi linear berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan persamaan regresi Y = 9,293 – 0,212X₁ + 0,942X₂. Secara parsial, intensitas penggunaan TikTok berpengaruh negatif dan signifikan terhadap motivasi belajar (thitung = -2,996; sig. = 0,003 < 0,05), sedangkan peran orang tua berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap motivasi belajar (thitung = 16,312; sig. = 0,000 < 0,05). Secara simultan, intensitas penggunaan TikTok dan peran orang tua berpengaruh signifikan terhadap motivasi belajar siswa (Fhitung = 137,787; sig. = 0,000 < 0,05). Nilai koefisien determinasi menunjukkan bahwa kedua variabel memberikan kontribusi sebesar 64,1% terhadap motivasi belajar siswa, sedangkan 35,9% dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain di luar penelitian. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa intensitas penggunaan TikTok dan peran orang tua berpengaruh signifikan terhadap motivasi belajar siswa kelas X di SMA Negeri 10 Medan.
