CONFLICT OF INTEREST

TEKNISI fully committed to maintaining the highest standards of transparency, objectivity, and ethical behavior in scholarly publishing within the fields of computer technology and information systems. This policy outlines the definition of conflict of interest and the procedures for handling conflicts of interest for authors, reviewers, editors, the editorial board, and the publisher, whether identified before or after publication. The journal consistently adheres to the core practices and ethical standards outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Definition of Conflict of Interest

A conflict of interest arises when an individual or entity has financial, personal, professional, or academic relationships or interests that may influence, or be perceived to influence, their objectivity, integrity, or decision-making in the context of research, review, editorial, or scholarly publishing processes.

2. Identification of Conflicts of Interest

Authors, reviewers, editors, and all parties involved in the publication process at Jurnal Teknisi are required to disclose all potential conflicts of interest relevant to the manuscript submitted, reviewed, edited, or published. Conflicts of interest may include, but are not limited to:

  • Financial interests: Research funding sources, stock ownership, employment, consulting, or other commercial financial relationships directly related to the research content.

  • Personal relationships: Close personal relationships or family ties with individuals involved in the research process, manuscript preparation, or publication management.

  • Academic relationships: Collaborations or academic affiliations that may affect scientific objectivity or create the perception of bias.

  • Competing affiliations: Affiliations with competing organizations or institutions that may have conflicting interests regarding the research or its outcomes.

  • Intellectual property rights: Any patents, copyrights, or other intellectual property rights that could be directly affected by the research or publication.

3. Handling Conflicts of Interest

Jurnal Teknisi handles any potential conflicts of interest with the utmost diligence, care, and transparency through the following stages:

  1. For Authors

Authors are required to openly disclose all potential conflicts of interest during the manuscript submission process via the provided statement forms. If a conflict of interest is identified only after publication, authors must immediately notify the editorial board so that transparent corrective actions can be taken.

  2. For Reviewers

Peer reviewers are expected to decline review invitations if they have conflicts of interest that could compromise their objectivity. If a reviewer realizes a potential conflict of interest during the review process, they must immediately notify the editorial board so the manuscript can be reassigned to another reviewer.

  3. For Editors and Journal Staff

Editors and internal staff of Jurnal Teknisi involved in the selection, review, and publication decisions must recuse themselves from handling any manuscripts that present a conflict of interest. In cases of doubt or disputes, the editorial board will hold a plenary meeting to make an independent final decision.

  4. For the Publisher (Penerbit Goretan Pena)

The publisher ensures that robust policies are implemented to address potential conflicts of interest within the publishing management structure. These policies guarantee that editorial decisions and content substance are based solely on academic merit, free from interference by financial considerations or external pressures.

4. Transparency and Disclosure

Jurnal Teknisi clearly states its conflict of interest policy to ensure understanding among all stakeholders. Disclosures of conflicts of interest made by authors, reviewers, and editors will be published alongside the related articles or reviews to ensure transparency. Furthermore, Jurnal Teknisi strictly limits and prevents editors or reviewers from accessing the publishing process if they are co-authors of a manuscript currently under review at the journal.

5. Policy Review

The Editorial Board of Jurnal Teknisi will periodically review and update this conflict of interest policy to ensure its effectiveness and alignment with best practices in national and international scholarly publishing. Any revisions to this policy will be communicated to stakeholders and published on the journal's website.
